SureDesk Troubleshooting

Microsoft Outlook 2010 has two options in how the program stores your Exchange email account, online mode and cache mode. Cache mode stores a copy of your mailbox on your computer while online mode accesses your information directly from the Exchange server. Cache mode is intended to allow you to access your email while offline and online mode is usally faster. However on the SureDesk™ the two modes do not work as intended.

Online mode

  • Email search works.
  • Can casue freezing since Outlook has to constantly connect to our servers.
Note
An alternative to searching in Outlook is to go to https://outlook.suretech.com/ and login to your email account. You can search your inbox through there.

Cache mode

  • Search doesn't really work.
  • Outlook does not tend to freeze since the program.is accessing a .ost file located on the SureDesk™.

We generally recommend using cache mode as it is more stable and you can alternatively search your inbox at https://outlook.suretech.com/. Fixing this issue is a top priority for the SureTech team.

Changing modes

Changing the mode is simple.

  1. Launch Outlook 2010 and select File.
  2. Click Account Settings.
  3. Select your email account and then select Change...
  4. Make sure Use Cached Exchange Mode is checked if you would like to use chace mode or unchecked if you would like to use online mode.
  5. Relaunch Outlook 2010.
