When people bought the latest and greatest iPhone 4s, they reported a lot of problems with their battery draining super fast. The verdict is still out on 'Battery-Gate" - whether it is a hardware or software issue - but whatever it is, its pissing off a lot of loyal iPhone users.  Last week Apple released iOS 5.0.1 but not everyone was as thrilled as Apple thought.

According to Apple, iOS 5.0.1 was meant to fix bugs affecting battery life and yes, some users who had battery issues did see an improvement however there are now more cases of people who were unaffected by battery-gate the first time around seeing their battery life crippled.  According to user feedback over on Apples support forum, the patch actually introduced the bug to others who had previously not been affected by it.

When the update was first released, Wired called it nothing short of amazing.  Not even a whole week later, ZDnet is advising people to avoid the update.

It comes down to this - if you have battery problems, try the new update.  If you dont, then you may want to stay away from iOS 5.0.1.
